Thanks so much for the Phil Woods interview. It was informative, insightful and you were great with the questions and as you said with your "home work". He represents a whole slice of "Americana" and we are all better off for having him with us. Keep the interviews coming!!
JUST SENT A 50 DOLLAR CHECK TO N Y NICK.... ED RYAN SAID HE CAME UP WITH A 20 SPOT FOR HIM LAST WEEK..... MAYBE HELP A LITTLE.....SEE OVER 3000 HITS ON YOUR SHOWS. WISH MORE COLLECTORS AND JAZZ FANS WOULD PONY UP A LITTLE. EVEN THE PRICE OF A CD ONCE IN AWHILE WOULD HELP .... WE SURE GET TO HEAR A WONDERFUL SELECTION OF FREE MUSIC.... THAT UN-ISSUED NEVER TO BE HEARD MATERIAL IS LIKE FROSTING ON THE
CAKE.....SWEET STUFF. STOP BY SOMETIME....MAY HAVE A FEW THINGS YOU WANT TO TAKE....HOPE ALL THINGS GOING WELL WITH YOU.
Thanks for the update.
Any idea why I can't get the videos to start up on my computer. I don't have trouble usually. Enjoyed that MF Birdland podcast. Keep swinging my friend.
I love my Dadder Show. If the world was full of DANNY'S DADDER'S and Jazz The world would be a much funnier place. Everybody would be so high and would just want to do the chicks that they missed. Love It
As I get time I have been getting through Danny D'Imperio 's radio show blogs. Those who know Danny will know he approaches these in his usual style and enthusiasm. So if you're sitting at the comp and spotify aint making it for you, let me suggest you take this trip to Danny's place. Rick Krieger I think you'd dig this (Just listening to show 31 ...gotta agree about Kaminski...)
Although it wasn't necessary to thank me for the donation, I do really, really appreciate what you're trying to do here in keeping this music that we all love alive. I'm looking forward to seeing you at the Syracuse Jazz Vegetable, hey! here's an idea maybe on the Friday we can approach Wynton Marsallis as to putting something together for Whodatsound wouldn't that be great? I'm willing to help in any way possible. Just let me know if there's anything I can do. You've got my total support.
My brother has musicians in Florida , Michigan, and others listening to your Show, I even have Bob Snyder listening everyone loves your show and your dialog. I think what you are doing is much better than Real Jazz on XM radio. You take a person back in time to the night of the gig. It is almost like being there back when. The history, the best of the best music, the most interesting of the interesting I can't stop listening. You the way you dialog totally cool.
Thanks for sharing this great music and your considerable skills behind the microphone as a D.J. You should be on every Jazz Radio station on the planet.
From Bill Evans last drummer
Just wasn't goin' far down enough. Liked your Stilts Benton (Kent Standim) comments ! The fidelity is really excellent !
Superb!! Great job !! I love it!!!

Dear Mr. D'Imperio:
Wally Siebel hipped me to your amazing Maynard post and I just spent the afternoon listening to all 5 sets. I wanted to take the time to thank you for posting this great music. The music and your commentary were both smokin'!
How often do you post to the www.whodatsound.com site? I can't wait to check out your other posts soon. As a trumpet player myself, Maynard's band and Don Ellis's groups are some of my favorite recordings to listen to.
Thanks again for getting the hard to find shit out there,
Totally blown away by the Maynard stuff. Thanks for posting this. A.G. would have dug this even more than me. Your hip talkin' reminds me of him so much. I miss that guy. I'm going to play this for my good friend Forrest Buchtel. He can't play trumpet anymore but still has his ears! I did a one nighter in the 70's and roomed with Jerry Tyree. What an experience!!
From Brian "Hardbop" Smith in New Zealand
Just been listening to some of the M.F band 59 . That's great stuff the real thing , I'll get through more later.
How you keeping,
Hi Dawinul Demperzal

Not bad at all. No Oscars for podcasts…………………………yet.
But it’s early.
FROM VINCE FALCONE
I loved the show about pianists. Thanks for the mention. One of these days, I'll send you my latest with Joe Labarbara and Tom Warrington.
Hope all is well.
A TRUMPET PLAYER FROM MY BIG BAND BLOVIATION. ALSO A CANCER RESEARCH SCIENTIST NOW
AT TULANE IN NEW ORLEANS. A GREAT TROMBONE PLAYER WHO WAS WITH EVERYBODY
Your gift will be a "must play" any time I want to listen to great jazz. Guess I don't have to wonder what you've been doing for awhile. You've done well, that's for sure.
From Steve Gilmore
Hey Danny Joyce passed off your Budwood radio broadcast to me. I want to thank you for a great Jazz history lesson - I thoroughly enjoyed it. Haven't seen you in too many years , but you seem as appropriately feisty as ever. I believe the last time was when we played with a big band led by that thieving trombonist Doug Sertle ( spelling). You and I and Al Hamme were the only ones that got paid. We are having a buddy DeFranco tribute concert down here in Panama City tomorrow night.
hope all is well with you.
Here's one from Buddy DeFranco's widow
Thanks Danny, VERY well done & it was a real pleasure to hear all those tunes and to hear your admiration of him coming through the whole show. I am looking forward to hearing it again soon, and also some of the others, but don't have the time right now. . . but SOON.
Thanks again for doing that, and for sending us the link. Really enjoyed it & hearing your voice again
FROM STEPHANIE (HOD'S WIFE)
What a great radio show, and thanks for the inclusion with some of my heroes. These days at Fredonia, I'm doing a bunch of stuff with a string section. I'll send you something.
Stay well, stay warm.
"The Bad Man."
Just finished your Show 7 available below. What an amazing package you've put together. Must viewing for any jazz fan. WIll spread word and plug on SC 5/6 website. Most interesting to me: 1) Frank Rossalino (?) on trombone with Les Brown. 2) Best I've ever heard: Ben Pollack's trombonist ???(1950 3) Don Lester's trombone on "Dark Eyes" with Ted Heath (Heath seldom gave credit to the personnel on his albums and he had the best in England.). 4) Johnny Hodges, alto sax on "All of Me" 5) Dave Powell singing "I Want to Get Paid." 6) Harry James band on "Tiny Blues". So glad you gave him the recognition he deserves as a great jazz trumpet player that was overlooked. PLEASE send me the name of the album it's on. I've got
to find it. 7) Rafael Mendez double-tonguing trumpet continuously for many minutes while circular breathing (sneaking air in nose while blowing) giving the illusion that he is not taking a natural breath while playing. (Tommy Dorsey learned how -as in "Song of India". Sinatra learned it by studying Dorsey).
